So you still think I am middle aged and just go for the brand they know? No - I go for phones that enable me to do the new stuff first and to kick ass while I am doing it.
Blackberries are supposed to be for business people but seriously, an E-series takes the snot out of it and it works perfectly without the need for special internet.

Going mobile with VoIP and SymVPN.
Within SymVPN, you can pick which access point is used to create the VPN connection;
when I tell the phone to sign in to the 3CX system, if it can't find my home WiFi,
it then uses SymVPN and connects that way. To all intents and purposes,
it works exactly the same as when I'm at home, whether using another wireless network, or Orange's data service.
So, I can dial a number on the E72 and press the right hand soft key (labelled 'Net call'),
to call using my home phone line. And calls that come in to my business number will ring on the mobile,
wherever I am in the world.

Telexy's SymPlayer, it's a simple and very sleek mp3 player for your S60 (both v3 and v5) mobile phone, that allows you to play audio files directly from any shared network location!
That's right, you don't have to copy your music library to your cell, this useful app uses WiFi connection to play your songs straight from your PC or Network Attached Storage.

Their flagship application is called SymNC, and it's the best networking tool for your s60 device money can buy! It consists of several apps (that can be bought separately), i
ncluding SymNAS (Network Attached Storage), SymVPN (Virtual Private Network), SymSync, SymRDP (Remote Desktop Protocol), etc.
All of these apps allow you to connect your phone to your home/work network (in different ways, of course).
I was lucky enough to translate SymNC to Serbian language, and I've received a license for this extremely useful software. I use it daily, and it's a great time saver!
To be honest, I cannot remember when was the last time I used USB cable to connect my Nokia N82 to my PC.

Hi there, I just wanted to feedback about SymNC. I recently upgraded from SymVPN - and I have to say that this is probably the best suite of apps on Symbian at the moment.
Everything seems to have worked first time - whether it's synchronising the media directories on my phone with my home Samba NAS in the evenings - or setting up the phone as a portable NAS device - brilliant.
The other thing I would say is that it's quick ... nothing worse on a phone than a laggy phone app!
The only feature I can really think of that would improve the solution, would be an option to allow multiple connection possibilities
(i.e. For the mapped network drives - option 1 would be a WIFI access point and option 2 would be the VPN). So when the WIFI isn't available, it then tries VPN.
I can still create separate connections (WIFI / VPN) to the same shares so it's not a problem - just a 'nice to have'.
Well done. My Nokia E71 has just become 200% more useful.

I always thought it would be really cool if I could use some sort of device whether it be a phone, a palmtop or a netbook to remote in to my computer at home.
I always wondered how the heck it could possibly work. Well everyone knows that a symbian phone can pretty much do anything.
ok I say this out of bias because I HAVE a symbian phone. they are invincible! It didn't take me long to discover there is an application called 'symRDP'
which basically uses the Remote Desktop Protocol to log you in to your home computer. It didn't take long to set up, I installed the app,
configured the computer to accept remote desktop invites and then I was ready to go! It was a simple task of then running the app then identifying my computer over the network.
