We think it's time to discuss what SymSMB from Telexy Networks is really stands for. We would also like to change the current perception about this product.
The initial versions of SymSMB were released as applications. Version 1.10 was a control panel while 2.00 was a browser. Such approach was required, first, to test the concept and, second, to attract the users. It appears that both of these tasks were completed successfully.
However this approach is already beginning to limit and distract us from our main mission. Therefore, it’s time to announce that we are not producing browsers and do not intend to compete with already existing quality implementations. We are really after a platform-level SMB technology which allows turning the phone into a fully-functional network unit. Or as our motto goes, Inventing Mobile Network Computing.
Therefore, on the one hand, we turn over developing applications based on Telexy SymSMB to third party developers; on the other, we release SymSMB 2.00 SDK which can be used to develop such applications easily.
SymSMB 2.00 SDK provides a set of Symbian 9.1 open source libraries and sample application to demonstrate network file system programming technique. Third party developers can use this SDK to integrate network file access into their applications.
